A Good Paint Job is 90% Prep Work
I think a lot of people believe painting is just about the color you choose. But the secret to a paint job that looks good for years isn’t the paint—it’s everything you do before you even open the can.

We painted a house in Blue Point last summer that had been painted by another crew just two years before. It was already peeling and chipping. Why? Because they didn’t scrape off the loose old paint. They didn’t sand the glossy surface. They just painted right over the problem. It was a waste of money.

We do it differently. We take the time to prep properly. It takes more effort upfront, but it means you won’t have to think about it again for a long time.

Our Detailed Painting Process

Step 1: Protection and Preparation
We start by moving furniture to the center of the room and covering everything with drop cloths. For exteriors, we cover plants, windows, and walkways. Then, we wash the surfaces to remove dirt and mildew. This is the most important step.
Step 2: Scraping, Sanding, and Repairing
We scrape off every bit of loose or peeling paint. We sand glossy surfaces so the new paint has something to grip. We then fill any holes or cracks with caulk or spackle and smooth it out.
Step 3: Priming
We’ll show you what we found, explain your options, and give you a clear, upfront price for the fix. No surprises.
Step 4: The Paint Application
We apply two coats of premium paint using professional techniques. We use brushes for edges and rollers or sprayers for large areas, ensuring an even, smooth finish without drips or streaks.
